Canada and Ukraine Sign 100-Year Partnership Agreement

Canada and Ukraine have signed a long-term partnership covering defence, trade, energy, reconstruction and technology.
Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the agreement following meetings in Alberta on Thursday.
The countries plan to establish a defence-industrial partnership that includes jointly developing counter-drone equipment. Carney said Canada also intends to expand domestic drone production.
The agreement includes co-operation on intelligence, critical minerals and navigation in the Black Sea, an important shipping route for global grain supplies.
Separate energy commitments cover liquefied natural gas, nuclear energy, hydroelectricity and other renewable sources.
Canada has pledged $6.5 billion in military assistance for Ukraine through 2029. Ukraine continues to seek additional air-defence support as Russia targets its cities and energy infrastructure.
