Nova Scotia warns some callers may have trouble reaching 911

Nova Scotia issued an advisory Thursday morning warning that intermittent telecommunications outages may prevent some wireless and internet-phone users from reaching 911.
The province said it was still assessing the disruption, which appeared to involve carrier networks rather than the provincial 911 system.
Anyone unable to connect should try a landline, Wi-Fi calling or a phone using another carrier, according to the advisory.
Alternative numbers listed by the province include 902-678-2100 for the Annapolis Valley and 1-888-346-9999 for Emergency Health Services.
Residents should not call 911 simply to test the service. If urgent assistance is needed and calls cannot connect, the province advises seeking emergency personnel or going to the nearest police, fire or medical facility.
