Families are seeking answers after the new owners of a Coldbrook funeral home contacted them about cremated remains still held in storage.
Amanda Sabean told The Canadian Press her family buried what they believed were her father’s ashes in 2018. She said East Coast Memorial recently told the family that Hendrik “Hank” Sabean’s remains were still at the former Serenity Funeral Home.
Another family reported being contacted about a portion of a relative’s remains.
East Coast Memorial president Andrew George said the company was contacting families after finding a significant number of stored remains. He said the company was not responsible for the original arrangements.
Service Nova Scotia said it was working with the company to establish what happened.
