Rural Nova Scotia Projects Share Nearly $890,000

Seven organizations across Nova Scotia are sharing nearly $890,000 for rural economic-development and innovation projects.

The Valley Regional Enterprise Network in Kentville received $25,000 for tourism strategy work. The project will study gaps in tourism infrastructure and services across the Annapolis Valley, giving local operators and communities more information for future planning.

Other recipients include the Western Regional Enterprise Network, which received $151,493 to connect employers with skilled international graduates, and the Town of Westville, which received $88,112 for a pop-up business zone.

The Village of St. Peter’s received more than $206,000 for a community hub. Spark Nova Scotia, a startup competition for rural entrepreneurs, received a separate $244,000 innovation grant.

The projects are intended to strengthen local businesses, attract investment and create more opportunities outside the province’s larger urban centres.
