Annapolis Valley Communities Receive Climate-Resilience Funding

Three Annapolis Valley organizations are receiving provincial support for projects designed to help their communities prepare for severe weather and the effects of climate change. The Town of Kentville received $235,200 to design stormwater upgrades for the Crescent Avenue flood zone. The Margaretsville Shore Society received $96,310 for coastal protection work, including improvements to the community breakwater and the creation of a living shoreline. Rural Nova Scotia Projects Share Nearly $890,000

Seven organizations across Nova Scotia are sharing nearly $890,000 for rural economic-development and innovation projects. The Valley Regional Enterprise Network in Kentville received $25,000 for tourism strategy work. The project will study gaps in tourism infrastructure and services across the Annapolis Valley, giving local operators and communities more information for future planning. Nova Scotia Approves Province’s Largest Wind Project

Nova Scotia has granted environmental assessment approval to the Ocean Lake Wind Project in Guysborough County. Plans call for as many as 158 turbines with a combined generating capacity of approximately 1,264 megawatts. The province says that would be enough electricity to power the equivalent of about 404,000 homes. Construction is expected to begin in 2029 and take about five years.
