Lunenburg Daycare Expansion Will Add 77 Spaces

Families in Lunenburg are expected to have access to 77 additional child-care spaces when an expanded daycare centre opens in 2027.

The Lunenburg Day Care Centre is receiving approximately $4.5 million for an expansion at its Lincoln Street location. Plans include 10 new infant spaces, 54 toddler spaces and 13 preschool spaces.

The expansion will bring the centre’s total capacity to 190 children. It is expected to open in July 2027.

Funding comes through the Canada-Nova Scotia Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. Provincial figures show that 9,676 child-care spaces have been created across Nova Scotia since 2021, with about 2,700 more under development.
