Nova Scotia has increased the financial penalties for buying or selling cannabis outside the legal market. Adults who purchase cannabis from anywhere other than the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation can be fined between $600 and $5,000. Nova Scotians who received a $10 farmers’ market voucher this year have until December 31 to use it at a participating market. Nova Scotia Approves 158-Turbine Wind Project

The Ocean Lake Wind Project in Guysborough County has received environmental assessment approval from the Province of Nova Scotia. The proposed development could include as many as 158 turbines and generate approximately 1,264 megawatts of electricity. Provincial estimates say that is equivalent to the electricity used by about 404,000 homes. Construction is expected to begin in 2029 and take approximately five years. The Town of Kentville is moving ahead with planning for stormwater improvements in one of the community’s higher-risk flood areas.
